According to a report by CPCB, 51.4 million tons of solid waste is generated in our country every year. Out of this, 91% is collected and 27% is treated while the remaining 73% is disposed of at the dump sites.
Considering this data, I feel how negligent we have been to save our world and perhaps the humanity.
To respond to the alarming situation, Axis Bank has introduced biodegradable cards on the World Environment Day which was on June 5. These cards are made of Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG). The new biodegradable cards of Axis bank are derived from polyester and do not release carbon, methane, or any other harmful pollutants. These eco-friendly assets can also be easily decomposed without any extra effort.
Soon to be available under the gift card segment of the bank, these cards will be accepted by all domestic merchant outlets and online portals. “Consumers as well as institutions are growing conscious of the ecological footprint of business activities and are looking for environmental friendly solutions. Still, there are many who are unaware of the benefits of biodegradable products. With this, we are excited to offer our customers a simple way to contribute to the environment,” said Sangram Singh, the Bank’s head for Payments Business, during the launch of the card.
This innovative and eco-friendly approach spearheaded by Axis Bank is not only beneficial for us but also a significant move towards a safer environment.
