It was another jovial day at JWB office. We all were giggling, gossiping and of course working. *wink*
Our Lady Boss Ana joined in and shared with us a childhood memory with her father that not only made clench our stomachs but also inspired me to write a blog sharing our funny tales with daddy dearies.
Let’s begin with Ana:
Ana’s run for her dad landed them both in trouble!
Ana’s father was an engineer by profession and a sportsperson by heart, And so, he wanted Ana to be an athlete, too. Ana described,
“While every other girl was putting make-up on her face and getting a haircut, I was busy with my father doing chin-ups and burpees. He always pushed me over the edge to enhance my stamina. One fine day, he trapped me in a bet, challenging me to run for an hour non-stop. I took it up and said to him, ‘I can do it.’
I still remember I ran like it’s THE race of my life, and my father was just standing and smiling looking at me struggle to complete the last few minutes. Though, in the end, the challenge went into vain, when my mom reprimanded us both for our ‘childish behavior,’ and we stood there, eyes lowered, mouth zipped like two mischievous kids caught red-handed.”
Oopsie!
When Lavanya proclaimed her love for Mowgli to her dad like THIS!
When Lavanya, JWB’s Blogger-in-chief, was a kiddo, she was obsessed with Mowgli and her favorite song was, ‘Chaddi pehen ke phool khila hai, phool khila hai.’
But, But, But…. That’s not how she sang it in front of her papa.
“I thought ‘Chaddi’ was a bad word. I thought my father would scold me if I used it and so, I hummed the song all day long. To avoid the ‘bad’ word, I used to sing, ‘Jungle Jungle pata chala hai, Underwear pehen ke phool khila hai.’
“That was lame, right,” she sighed.
Komal teased her, “Not lame; you were so Sanskaari. Wow!”
And, we all laughed.
My morning started with ‘Daadhi Banana’ with Papa
As absurd as it sounds, it will get absurd-er!
My every morning started with a shave-date with my dad. My dad used to place me on the slab near the washbasin to apply shaving gel on my face. First, he used to shave me, and later, it was my turn to put the razor on his face.
He used to teach me how to shave his beard with a razor. However, like all kids of the age, I thought I knew everything, and, more often than not, I used to give him razor cuts on the cheeks. Sorry, Papa! *puppy face*
Ayushi’s day out with her Dad made us nostalgic
It one of those stories that will make you go ‘Awwwww..’
“My mother and father had always been working parents. So, every month my father used to take leave from work for a father-daughter day out. Our day started with going out to the zoo, after which we fed the pigeons at Albert Hall and took a horse ride. Later, he would take me to Pizza Hut and ordered everything I pointed on. Back home, we would play Monopoly till both of us dozed off.”
Awwwww, right?
When Priya only remembered her dad’s surname
So, Priya was really young, like 3-4 years old when she decided to go exploring her world on her own. Seriously, Priya?
In her own words,
“I ran away from home and just kept walking on the road in my colony. I didn’t even know my name then. An uncle spotted me and asked me, ‘Where’s your family? What’s your name?’ I had no clue. He asked me again, and I could only say, ‘Papa Motiani.’ I kept repeating Papa Motiani because I just knew this word back then. Luckily, he was aware of my father’s name and hence, could drop me. Phew!”
‘Papa Motiani’ is such a cute name, I think she should save his mobile number with this name.
Avantika and her father discussed Bollywood over Burgers!
“Papa used to take me on junk-food dates. For hours, we used to talk about Bollywood movies while eating burgers, fries and pizzas. I would also disclose him my school secrets and gossiped about the mean girls. I remember, how in a mellow voice, he advised me to see things in a kinder and more positive light.”
Wow, Amazing!

Komal’s father fulfilled her wish to travel in train in a unique way
This one’s pretty interesting!
Very often, Komal used to demand and insist her parents to take her for a train ride. *rolling my eyes*
“I stopped eating food, cried for hours and howled, ‘Mujhe abhi jana hai train mein.’ So, my dad made me board our old scooter and switched off the ignition. He later pushed it slowly towards a bumpy road close to our place. The road-hiccups made me believe I was on a train.”
Priya said, “Fathers go to any length to make their daughters happy, no?”
We all chimed in, “Certainly.”
Well, these were some of our treasured stories. Why don’t you share yours in the comments below?
Happy Father’s Day! xoxo
