The busy traffic around Diggi Palace horns the beginning of another big event. ‘Handmade in Rajasthan’, the second edition of Rajasthan Heritage Week has begun today. Pretty excited us went to empty our wallets, oh no I mean card balance and Paytm at the crafts pavilion.
The Crafts pavilion at Heritage Week displays the works of over fifty young designers from across the country. We spoke to few of the designers and craftsmen yesterday.
Prasad Bidappa along with Martand Singh, Malvika Singh and BB Russel inaugurated the second edition of Rajasthan Heritage Week jointly organized by Khadi Board, Government of Rajasthan and Prasad Bidapa Associates.
Perfect for AW 16/17? For those who think exhibitions are more or less about ‘women’, you have to go and see these crafty half jackets. Also, those who think handloom is about whites and creams and indigos, this stall will bring color happiness to your life!
Playing indigo in all possible forms, these bags with thread and leather detailings are quirky and cool AF.
This craftsman from Jaipur gave us a live demonstration of how these widely sold bangles that reflect the tradition and culture of Rajasthan are made!
Pranshuta launched her label ‘Twines and Pellets’ through Rajasthan Heritage Week last year. Today the year-old brand makes these outhouse colorful accessories, and yes a lover of quirky jewelry, Lavanya and I couldn’t resist buying these neckpieces.
A doctor by qualification, who has an amazing garden and is the man behind ‘Soot’, dons several hats. This being an only men’s wear brand, we asked Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, “Why don’t you design for women?”
He replied, “I don’t consider myself good enough to design for women!”
This mother-daughter duo caught my eyes the moment I entered Diggi Palace and I decided to follow them. I came to their stall where the cute little mojris and jackets brought a unicorn joy to my heart. I quickly picked one for my niece as her birthday gift! Thank God I met them!
Ohh, yes we did shop! Just when I was busy admiring the silhouettes at ‘Rang Sutra’ who were celebrating their 10th anniversary with this collection at RHW, Lovy quickly swiped her card and yes here she was with this beauty in her bag!
Believe me, this isn’t even half of the amazing collection at Rajasthan Heritage Week this year. If you still don’t agree, see it for yourself at Diggi Palace from 11 am to 7pm!
Shop till you drop!
