The definition of feminism really needs to be loudly out there, because, every now and then, we need to be reminded that feminism is no conservative thought that requires men and women to live a certain kind of lifestyle.
For instance, it doesn’t ask women to be dressed ‘wisely’. And so when #HeForShe activist Emma Watson was recently on the Vanity Fair cover while promoting her upcoming film Beauty and The Beast, she was hit back by people who thought that she wasn’t dressed as a feminist.
“It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is about what feminism is,” she said during an interview with Reuters.
“Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality. I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it. It’s very confusing. I’m confused. Most people are confused. No, I’m just always just quietly stunned,”
Emma then continued to talk about her experience with the shoot for Vanity Fair.
