Deepali Chug: Don’t Be Afraid of Your Dream

  • IWB Post
  •  July 10, 2014

She is a daughter of an engineer father and doctor mother; youngest among four siblings with two engineer brothers and a doctor sister. A topper in her senior secondary from Hisar, it was expected from Deepali to be a doctor or an engineer. But she had dreams woven by her bubbling creative inner self. She wanted to do something where she is recognized by the whole world for her inner strength, creativity and a knack of being different, she wanted to make history in her chosen field.

So, Deepali Chug took up designing and polished her skills in the prestigious NIFT, Delhi. But her thirst for excellence didn’t let her stop and made her undergo extensive training from the Bollywood’s favourite Nalini & Yasmin in Mumbai, Tony and Guys and the prestigious Vital Sasson, London.

Tough times make you tougher:

She got married to the man of her dreams Mr. Vaneesh Chug. Together they started their new life in Delhi in a small room, struggling to establish themselves in their chosen fields amidst the happy cries of their first child Ayush. To balance the duties of infant and work, Deepali decided to join Vaneesh in his office. But their joy was suddenly broken by the illness of Vaneesh who was critical for about a year. Meanwhile, Deepali decided to take the front seat and after 6 years, came to Jaipur which was a known and calmer place for her to be.

A dream unfolds:

Jaipur welcomed Deepali with open arms. And with her husband’s never ending support she started her first Salon – ‘Style and Scissors’ in Vaishali Nagar in 2003.  She worked her optimum and was busy 24*7 working on client and staff friendly policies and infrastructure. Her struggle to be the best in beauty industry, constant improvisation towards 100% client satisfaction and hard work paid off in 2008 when her second branch at Raja park had been started. Since then, there was no looking back for her. Style and Scissors is now a chain of salons all over Jaipur.

Deepali wanted to create a history. She succeeded in doing so as Style and Scissors has one of the biggest set up in all over Rajasthan where all the stylists are trained abroad. Deepali shares: “Work is important but how you work is more important, you have to learn to upgrade, constantly improvise and deliver the best”. This is the very reason that Bollywood stars like Vidya Balan, Sunny Leone, Tiger Shroff and many others don’t forget to visit her salon when they are in Jaipur.

She nurtured a dream and now she is living it.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

Deepali says: “My biggest weakness is my biggest strength – my family. My husband who is now a builder and my son are my life’s nectar. My son Ayush often tells me: ‘Mamma, it’s your time, you should work and grow. When my time will come, I will do the same and never give up.’

She continues: “I also believe in always being positive in thoughts and approach. This is also the first and foremost lesson for my staff too during their training. I am hard working, loyal towards my clients and take utmost care of the client’s, distributor’s and staff’s satisfaction. All this is driven by my passion towards my work.”

New Generation and Style Mantra:

Deepali whose son is now a 14 years old teenager, advises Gen-X: “Education makes your mind grow and expands one’s vision. And Presentation builds the basic confidence in us that helps us at every step of life. All of you must learn how to balance studies and presentation which will give you an edge over others.”

We asked her few bullet questions:

  1. The Inspiring Personality – Madhuri Dixit
  2. The Best Make-up Artist in Bollywood Industry – Mr. Jayawant Thakrey
  3. The most transformed face with makeup – Shraddha Kapoor.

Finally, a message from Deepali to JWB readers:

“Every woman should work and try to achieve excellence in her field of choice. If you have passion for something, do not be afraid of anyone in order to pursue it. God has given you just one life and you are answerable for your own acts. Women should explore their horizons & give their 100% to find the direction towards life’s goals. But with that, you should not overlook your family for the sake of career, a successful woman is able to achieve a perfect balance between home and work and self. I manage my home well so that I can work well. When my family is happy I’m able to give more to my job.”
