Why do on screen heroes never age? It sometimes boggles my mind to think that how could the hero who played the role of a Romeo straight out of college could still be the loverboy for a heroine two decades younger than him?

Remember the saying that famous people think alike? That is why it seems that both me and Daniel Craig are on the same page! Okay…I accept that it is a lame joke on my part but the James Bond star did take on Hollywood’s sexist aging double standards.

Actually it is fair enough to say that at least in this one issue, both Hollywood and Bollywood are at par with each other as there seems to be no dearth of 50 pushing superstars romancing 20 something year old damsels.

So recently when Craig was asked in an interview that how he felt in his recent film Spectre about his character James Bond ‘succumbing to the charms of an older woman’ he made the interviewer eat his own words by his tongue in cheek answer.

The woman in question was actor Monica Belucci at 51 is four years older than Craig and also plays his love interest in the film.

So what was Danny’s counter to the question?

“I think you mean the charms of a woman his own age. We’re talking about Monica Bellucci for heaven’s sake. When someone like that wants to be a Bond girl, you just count yourself lucky!”

Well done! It is actually a clear double standard that when men in the silver screen are seen being paired with women half their ages, their female counterparts remain frozen in their 20s and shift to character roles when they get older.

And it gets better… Craig didn’t stop at letting his disdain known over this age debate but also went to say what could be best described as James Bond ripping himself apart.

When asked about James Bond’s reputation as a ladies’ man, he quipped:

“Let’s not forget that he’s actually a misogynist. A lot of women are drawn to him chiefly because he embodies a a certain kind of danger and never sticks around for too long.”

So there you go guys. Bond himself is saying that it is not so cool to treat women like objects and disappear after one night stands.

Well, don’t you think that for his honesty, Daniel Craig definitely qualifies for the coolest actor to be attached with the 007 tag ever?
